It is important that all people residing in a community register with a GP Practice as soon as they can so they can access a GP and medical staff when they are ill. For the Traveller Community who often do not have a permanent address, this can be daunting.
All travellers, gypsies or members of the Roma community are eligible to register with a GP practice
At Open Door we provide GP and health services for the Traveller Community whether at an approved or unauthorised site. Although most practices ask for an address, you are entitled to register in the area where you are, without ‘proof of address’.
We are committed to supporting the Traveller Community:
- You can be expected to be treated politely and with respect
- Your details and information will always be kept confidential and safe by your GP
- If you have difficulty filling in forms, we can provide support
You do not have to provide ID to register, but it is helpful if you do have one of the following:
- Passport
- Birth Certificate
- HC2 certificate
- Travel documents
- Drivers’ license
- CSCS card
- Baptismal certificate
- Tenancy agreement
If you would like to discuss registering with us, please call our reception staff on 01472 722 000 or pop into the surgery.
